It is important to report harassment issues so that they can be handled properly by BES staff. The problems of harassment that persist are often due to the fact that they are not reported. A copy of the Student Code of Conduct, including the Directive on Harassment, Harassment and Bullying, is available online. At the beginning of the school year, a document is distributed and signed by the parents when reading the directive. There is no universal definition of harassment, but normally it has three criteria: (1) hostile intent, (2) power imbalance, and (3) repetition over a period of time. Harassment can therefore be defined as the activity of targeted, repetitive and/or aggressive behavior aimed at hurting another person physically, mentally or emotionally. Anti-bullying lessons are taken by classroom teachers and are part of our development consulting program. harassment, harassment and bullying are defined by the Pleasants County Board of Education Policy as “an intentional act or any written, oral or physical act that is so inappropriate, serious, tenacious or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational environment or that a reasonable person should know, in the circumstances, (a) harms a student; (b) to place the pupil in a reasonable fear of harming the pupil; (c) damage a student`s property; or (d) put a student in a reasonable fear of damaging his or her property. 3.
